An established, early and ongoing engagement process is necessary to avoid treaty right infringements. Successful engagement means that HDI approves of every stage of the proposed development.
The HDI operates within the jurisdiction defined by the Mohawk Great Law of Peace and regulates development in areas that include, but are not limited to, those described in the Haldimand Proclamation, the 1701 Nanfan Treaty, and the Mitchell Map.
HDI’s dedicated team of archaeology , development, and environmental experts ensures that every stage of development is conducted consistent with Haudenosaunee values and law in mind.
